Kährs offers an assortment of high quality and environmental friendly wood floors for both private, public and commercial usage, this in combination with an outstanding service offer to customers/distributors.
AB Gustaf Kähr was established in 1857 and is today one of Europe’s leading parquet and wood flooring producers. Kährs products are considered to be products of great quality. They are manufactured chiefly in three-ply and are available in one, two and three-strip versions. Kährs products are mainly “floating”, where the parquet boards are bonded together side by side and not to the subfloor. The wood floors have been produced with the woodloc® joint since mid-2001, and has achieved market leadership in lock systems.
All man-made products affect the environment. To counteract these effects, Kährs has adopted an ecological approach that permeates everything they do. The wood used is almost entirely from Scandinavia and Europe, where new growth exceeds that which is harvested. In 1984 Kährs was the first manufacturer to boast an entirely solvent-free surface treatment process.
Kährs multi-layer construction allows them to take full advantage of each log, using fewer resources than in solid floor production. This, and other initiatives, earned Kährs the ICO 14001 environmental management certification nearly a decade ago. It is this level of dedication that allows them to create and produce floors that are not only beautiful but also contribute to the well-being of generations to come. Beauty with a conscience.
All Kährs production units have environmental and quality certification according to ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 and are EMAS-registered.

Activity Floor is a wood floor specifically designed to reduce strain on knees, ankles and backs which makes it the optimal surface for all types of sports. Kahrs Activity Flooring has the patented construction for fast, simple installation.
Kahrs Activity Floor features a unique “all-in-one” construction. Unlike other wood floors designed for sports and activities, the absorption material and reinforcement are already fitted to the back of the board. This means that the floor can be laid directly onto the subfloor without the time-consuming construction of floor battens or special fittings.
Environment and Quality
Kährs is determined to promote environmental awareness even in global terms. That is why tropical species in our range come from countries who are members of the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO). All members of the organization have pledged to work towards ecological forestry.

When purchasing tropical timber we also endeavor to purchase raw materials from responsibly managed forests. Suppliers will be chosen principally from those who hold an FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or PEFC (Programmer for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certificate or are able to demonstrate that they operate environmentally aware timber procurement.
The FSC’s tracing system (Chain of Custody or CoC) connects responsible forestry methods and products with the consumers. With this traceability, companies can show that they support environmentally and socially responsible forestry and put the FSC mark on their products. Kährs obtained its FSC certificate in 2005.
